Spadel has set science-based targets
CLIMACT is honoured to empower Spadel in its climate action. The definition of targets validated by the SBTi demonstrates a credible ambition, necessary to fight climate change.
Spadel is making a number of important climate commitments to become the ‘Source of Change®’. Source of Change® is SPADEL commitment to Reinvent, Reduce, Recycle and Restore to create a healthier tomorrow and a greener planet for all. These four pillars underpin SPADEL ambition to join the circular economy by 2025 and achieve zero net emissions in 2050.
The Science Based Target initiative provides a framework to define emission reduction targets to limit global warming to either well-below 2°C or to 1.5°C.
CLIMACT helped Spadel to define how much and how quickly the company should reduce its emissions in order to be in line with science.
As a result, Spadel is committing to reduce absolute scope 1 GHG emissions 40% and absolute scope 2 GHG emissions 80% by 2030 from a 2015 base year. The group also committed to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 40% by 2030 from a 2015 base year.
These targets are part of a broader change in the management process and the strategic choices of the company.
