A few months ago, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with Hervé Camerlynck, Managing Director of Febelcem, the federation representing Belgian cement producers, at their office in Brussels. Hervé Camerlynck reaffirmed the cement sector’s firm commitment to decarbonisation, while acknowledging the complexity of certain technical and legal topics, such as Carbon Contracts for Difference. This type of support scheme is aimed at promoting the deployment of low-carbon production processes, including carbon capture and storage.
Our collaboration helped build a solid and shared understanding of the concept, backed by comparative insights from neighbouring countries. This allowed Febelcem members to align around a common position and ensure that Belgium keeps pace with the European clean industrial transition. Hervé Camerlynck truly appreciated Climact’s unique ability to combine engineering expertise with legal analysis, fostering trust and credibility both with industrial stakeholders and public authorities.
