In consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, CLIMACT developed an economy-wide EU model, designed quantified net-zero scenarios for Europe and assessed the impact on economy, society and overall wellbeing. The Carbon Transparency Initiative (CTI) 2050 Roadmap Tool model is available online and allows various stakeholders to elaborate their own low-carbon pathways.

Impact
The analysis demonstrated that reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in Europe by 2050 is technically possible and has positive impact on the economy, society and wellbeing in Europe. The study has been used by the European Commission for its elaboration the European Long-Term strategy. Two net-zeros scenarios are part the scenarios presented by the Commission. The online tool has proven to allow a transparent debate about future EU climate pathways.

"CLIMACT has performed an excellent job. It has modelled the emission reduction options of all sectors of the EU economy and analyzed possible net-zero pathways by 2050. The model and associated conclusions were discussed with relevant key stakeholders of the EU low-carbon transition (NGO’s, research institutes, corporate leaders, Institutional bodies, policy makers…)"
