Climact teamed up with Deloitte and VUB-IES to develop a Roadmap for a climate-friendly Flemish industry. To this end, Climact developed a robust model that includes over 50 different industrial technologies, with a core focus on the chemicals, steel and refinery sectors, which allowed us to model different reduction pathways and their expected impacts on GHG emissions, energy & feedstock demand and costs.

Impact
The project resulted in a comprehensive study which identifies key conditions and enablers to allow the Flemish energy-intensive industry to survive – and even thrive – in a climate-neutral Europe. The study was positively acknowledged by high-level stakeholders, including policy makers, industry representatives and research institutions, and will be used as a basis to guide the climate transition in the Flemish industry.
